ONE MONTH NATURAL!!

Here are some updated pictures of my natural hair one month after my big chop!

Here is my first photo after my big chop taken January 17 2011. I had attempted a two strand twist out and as you see it wasn't the least bit defined. But I liked it.

Here is a photo taken of a wash -n- go at the end of the day on February 17 2011. Notice the thickness of my hair now! It's so soft and curly!

Church Hair

I have always been an avid church goer. I would like to think this was the source of my getting perms all of my life. Being in a baptist church, or any church for that matter where particularly African-American people dominate, image is a very big thing. You know, big church hats, fancy suits, dolled up for Easter Sunday, the whole nine. SO with that being said, I'm wondering how things will go if I wore my natural hair to church??? As of now on Sundays I'm wearing some lace front wigs and underneath I have my hair undergoing the "baggy method" to retain moister and stay protected. I mean, there is a women their that has already done her big chop and she is using two strand twist with extensions for protection... but I was the one in church with the CRISP weave! lol I'm not sure just what I'm going to do next week.... Ultimately it's my head so I can do what I please ... hm *scratches head*

To Comb or Not to Comb

I'm finally over thinking or calling my hair nappy, and anyone else's for that matter...
since my hair is so short I can't help to keep from plucking at it all darn day!

RANDOM!!!
I'm going to stop combing my hair! I know it sounds a little funky at first but that's where all the breakage plays in. Grant it, wide tooth combs are good for detangling, but if there isn't enough length to complain about tangles, why the heck am I using a comb?

So, that's it (I think) no more comb until my hair is between my eyes. (not literally, the length w/ the curl stretched)

ok, goodnight for now lol

In A Room FULL of White Women...

I have begun my last semester at college, and I'm attending this course where I am the only African-American... O_O. Now, if I was my old relaxed (hair) self I wouldn't have any problem... but since I am not my old relaxed self I did feel a bit uneasy. Everyone's hair was long, strait, silky, and smooth. And mines was..... on my head. They could run their fingers through their hair and whip it over their shoulder. And mines was.... on my head. I almost want to throw my hood on, scurry to the corner and disappear but then I took another look.

Each of those women, throughout the entire 3 hours I was in class, kept "fluffing" their roots of their hair trying to achieve volume. My hair is naturally full of volume.
Some of those women had curls in their hair achieved by probably a curling iron that reaches 400 degrees. I just have to use my finger.
One woman's hair got caught in her zipper. Mines was too short for that! :P

But what I'm trying to say is DON'T BE ASHAMED! You're hair, my hair, is BEAUTIFUL! And we have spent all of our time and money on trying to look and imitate hair and people that we are not! Be who God intended you to be! Love yourself, Love your curls!
